MLJ Marine Oil & Gas Limited has added two new vessels to its fleet — MLJ Favour 07 and MLJ Favour 08 — expanding the company’s capacity to support rigless activities and fuel logistics operations for clients across the Niger Delta.
Both barges were hired and operated in support of Belemaoil Producing Ltd, part of a broader pattern of fleet growth that has seen MLJ steadily build out its marine logistics arm alongside its pipeline and civil engineering work. The company’s fleet now includes multiple classes of vessel — spud barges, ramp barges, coral barges, and fuel barges — reflecting the range of jobs MLJ takes on, from anchor handling and pipeline cleaning support to fuel and equipment transport.
Marine logistics has been part of MLJ’s operations since the company’s early years, when it began supplying marine equipment and operating ramp barges for the Nigerian Agip Oil Company. Since then, the fleet has grown steadily: 800-ton and 1,000-ton ramp barges, 900-ton and 1,000-ton coral barges, and multiple fuel barges have all entered service over the past decade, each acquired to meet a specific operational need as MLJ’s client base and project scope expanded.
Vessels like Favour 07 and Favour 08 matter because much of the Niger Delta’s oil and gas infrastructure simply isn’t reachable by road. Barges and support vessels are how equipment, fuel, and materials actually get to remote swamp and riverine sites — which is why fleet capacity is, in a very direct way, project capacity. Growing the fleet means MLJ can take on more concurrent rigless support work without stretching existing vessels thin.
MLJ Favour 07 and Favour 08 are currently in active service, supporting rigless operations for Belemaoil Producing Ltd.
